How to tell if your training plan is working

Review comparable workouts, separate logging gaps from performance changes, and make a calm decision about your existing training plan.

Pick the question before you open the chart

Ask something specific. Am I getting through the sessions I planned? Or am I doing more reps at the same load? Then pick the records that can answer it. Attendance and performance are separate questions, so keep them apart.

Start with the same exercises across a few comparable sessions. Check sets, reps and load. Then read any notes about interruptions or swapped exercises.

An example review

Say you planned three sessions a week. You did three one week and two the next. Your bench press stayed at 50 kg, but the second week’s session was shorter, with fewer sets.

The records show you missed a session. They don’t show your bench got weaker. A good next step is to find out why you missed it and keep logging comparable sessions.

What to do with what you found

If comparable sessions look in line with your program, leaving it alone is a perfectly good decision. If the logs have gaps, fix the record before you diagnose the plan. If the same pattern keeps showing up, look at it against your goal and your constraints.

Progress and workout history in Laroa help you check the evidence. Any proposed change still needs your explicit OK. And no log can isolate every cause of a change or guarantee future results.

Keep your plan. See the evidence.

Laroa reads your lifts, food, weight and recovery against one goal, and tells you if your plan is working and what, if anything, to change.
